Pilates

Welcome to Moves by J.

We're a private Pilates practice led by professional dancer, Jordan Miller, based in Austin, TX.

We offer Private, Duet and Group Pilates classes, both online and in-person, to help clients re-pattern their movement habits and build strength through creative, anatomy-informed sessions that support injury recovery and everyday resilience.

  • “I have been taking classes with Jordan for almost 7 years. Reformer, Mat, virtual or in-person… I always leave class feeling like my body works better. Pilates with Jordan is a regular part of my weekly routine, even from 1700 miles away.”

    - Sarah K.

  • “Jordan combines her deep knowledge of the Pilates practice, and of the human body, with great intuition and empathy. Every session feels coherent and focused, while remaining flexible enough to respond to the various sensations that arise throughout. The variety always keeps me on my toes, in the best sense, and my sessions with Jordan have benefited me in every way-- body and mind and spirit.”

    - Robert D.

  • "As a dancer, I’m incredibly selective about the cross-training I do—but working with Jordan has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my body and technique. Since training with Jordan, I’ve noticed significant improvements in my stability, control, and overall coordination. "

    - Isabelle G.

  • " I've been working with Jordan weekly for 9 months now, and I'm completely amazed at how differently I feel in my body. I've had more pain-free moments in these past 9 months than I have had in the last 19 years! Jordan has an incredible eye, a deeply caring attention, and a seemingly infinite source of body wisdom. She brings her full self to our sessions, and it's such a delight to work with her! I feel seen, supported, and cared for. "

    -Kelly L.

  • "I’ve known Jordan for a number of years and I learn something new in every session, class or workshop. The combination of her deep knowledge of anatomy and movement and her keen intuition make her one of the most focused and effective teachers I’ve encountered in my 10-plus years of practicing pilates. As someone who has worked with her through a few chronic and painful injuries, I’ve also felt completely safe practicing under her intelligent guidance."

    - Sarah W.

  • "Just by looking at you, she knows which exercise to give you and then, there is no more pain. Jordan is a magic person and very very knowledgeable. She is a great dancer, and knows the body very well. She is helping my body so much in every class…..I am very lucky to have her in my life."

    - Rosa M.

FAQs

  • Pilates is a series of low-impact, full-body exercises developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. These exercises are designed to improve strength, flexibility, posture and body awareness by increasing your core strength and connection to your physical self.

  • In-person Group Classes and Private Sessions will provide all the props and equipment you need! Just dress comfortably in clothing you can move in.

For Virtual Sessions, I usually suggest clients have an Overball, Pinky Ball, Yoga Block and a Thera-Band to get the most out of their sessions. However, these props are not required and we can have a great session using household objects or nothing at all!

  • Pilates is truly for everyone! It is a wonderfully adaptive system that is challenging and beneficial at any level. Each session is tailored to you and will help re-pattern old movement habits and achieve your movement goals.

I have worked with clients of all ages and ability levels. Hypermobile? Back pain? Tight hamstrings? You’ve come to the right place!

  • I recommend all clients start with a 1-on-1 session with me so I can fully understand your goals and movement patterns. From there, we can discuss what frequency and class offerings would be right for you.

For example: I have several clients with weekly 1-on-1 sessions who also practice on their own with Pilates on Patreon. I have others who join me for Mat Classes and do a one-off Private Session when they’re interested in working on something specific.

The options are endless, and there’s something available for every budget!

  • All sessions are 55-minutes in length and are subject to a 24-hour cancellation policy.

You should wear clothes that you can move in and socks or bare feet.

If your session is in-person, please be mindful of how you enter the space as there may be someone working before you.

If your session is on Zoom, take a few moments to clear the space around you so you’re able to move comfortably and check your camera angles!

Hot Tip: Have a couple of goals or questions in mind before our first session together, even if it’s as simple as, “I want to stand up straighter.” This way, we can get into what you want to work on right away.

About Jordan

Jordan turned to Pilates after a dance-related hip injury, and immediately felt the benefits of the practice. After studying extensively with her mentor, Marimba Gold-Watts, Jordan pursued her own teaching career— receiving her Pilates Mat Certification from the Kane School and her Comprehensive Certification through Balanced Body with Lesley Powell.

Jordan has taught in studios across New York City, including Fort Pilates and Studio26 (now ARRIVE), and has worked with a wide range of populations and ability levels before launching her own teaching practice in 2021.

Now based out of Moontower Pilates in Austin, TX, Jordan helps clients re-pattern their movement habits and build strength through creative, anatomy-informed sessions that support injury recovery, performance goals, and everyday resilience.

Her specialties include: hip dysfunction, hypermobility (EDS), lower back pain and working with dancers.
